Alpha Feature List

Hey everyone! I started working on a feature list that I would love to share with you. All of the things in the list are features we’re working diligently to get into the early access game. I know there is tons of stuff there but I know we can do it before our release day. Which, by the way, we have not set yet so don’t ask πŸ˜‰ I will continue to update this post as we add features or take them away. Also, I will put other information and just overall development updates in here as well. Now, let’s get to the stuff you want to see.

I have grouped the features into “classes” based on the different sections of the game. These sections are not grouped based on importance it was just random.

General [Alpha]

  • PC,OS X,Linux (We don’t plan on releasing on consoles at this time… maybe in the future)
  • Minimum and Recommended specs will be released soon.
  • Wide range of bike sizes (50,85,125,250f,250t,450f,500?)
  • Universal controller and keyboard support

Single Player [Alpha]

  • Change number of laps
  • Change number of opponents (up to 22 in supercross, up to 40 in motocross, up to 16 in arenacross?)
  • Change the weather or set to random weather (motocross only)
  • Riding from your pit to the starting gate (with mechanic on back if riding big bike class)
  • Slight changes in track heightmap so the track isn’t the same every time in terms of ruts/breaking bumps/etc
  • Up to 3 minute track walk to see how the terrain and obstacles look
  • Gate pick based on optional short qualifying session otherwise gate pick randomly seeded
  • Can get stuck in gate
  • 3 main camera modes (3rd person, first person, free move within certain boundaries)
  • Rider Falloff (you have to walk/run back to your bike to get back on. Promotes clean, smart riding like real life riding)
  • Tear offs/mud on screen (can be turned off in single player if desired while servers have the option to enforce it or to not enforce it)
  • Different ground types ex. mud, loam, sand, hard-packed etc (affects bike handling)
  • Independent rider attitudes (if you block or hit an AIΒ rider they will remember and act according to their attitude meter.)
  • Wash bike after session at your pit/house/garage

Multiplayer [Alpha]

  • No server software will be released during the first few alpha builds… but they will come for 3rd party hosting sites
  • Text chat
  • Voice chat (most people use teamspeak or discord but it will be there). Can mute other players.
  • Basic server commands via the dev console
  • Practice,qualifying,lcq,heats/main or moto/moto,Single races.(can join straight in while practice and qualifying are in progress.)
  • Vote for next track
  • Vote to kick player if being obnoxious (will be removed if being abused)
  • Vote laps
  • Vote weather

Customization [Alpha]

  • Choose bike size
  • Choose bike brand
  • Choose Graphics
  • Customize sponsor graphics
  • Add logos
  • Change graphics colors
  • Change bike plastic colors
  • Choose from a plethora of different parts (similar to mxgp2 but better)
  • Choose different rider gear
  • Change color of various gear parts and designs
  • Customize sponsor helmet/neckbrace wraps/graphics
  • Tune bike from in your garage
  • Pull bike off stand and ride out of your garage to your house/test track

User Created Content [Alpha]

  • Custom gear sets using our template cutouts (.png)
  • Custom bike graphics using our template cutouts (.png)
  • Custom tracks using our track editor
  • Can import custom heightmap from Photoshop into editor
  • Custom objects (can change the color, scale, transform, rotate)
  • Custom brush templates
  • Custom ground textures
  • Built in brushes, textures, track objects
  • Access to some basic properties in our terrain shader

Career [Alpha]
Career mode may not be done by early access release…
Can’t say anything about it yet, though… It’s top secret πŸ™‚

So, there you have it! The entire feature list we have for alpha release is now public and open for everyone to see. If you have any questions, comments or concerns then please say something below and we can discuss it a bit. I will say, however, we aren’t taking any suggestions at this time and plan to stay on this path, but don’t let that discourage you. Hope you’re all excited as we are to get this out!

  1. Wow! Sounds like you guys have a vision and are determined to see it through! I wish you all the very best and I will be the first to buy at release, good or bad, to support your vision! Congrats and I can’t wait to see what you can achieve, lord knows good moto games are a rare find. I’m sure you have all the pieces in place, but I would love to lend a hand on anything photoshop related (gear, bikes, UI, promotional material). Hope to see some gameplay screens/vids or tracks.   3. This is everything I wanted since mxgp1 came out I love every single detail in the game hopefully it come out on Xbox one because that’s what I have. This is the best motocross game that has ever been developed and it’s so realistic good job guys can’t wait to play

      1. just make sure the bikes sound good and the rider-movement is correct with whipping scrubs ect and if we can get an editor type thing like mx simulator to capture screenshots that’d be sick!

  4. This seems like a really great project! Do you guys have a facebook page for your studio? I have a MXGP 2 racing league and will shout you guys out if you want the exposure. We have 554 likes as of right this moment. We have a site, that has 331 people on it. If you guys could get the funds to release the game on console, would you guys be able to keep all the custom things even though we won’t have Photoshop on console? How much money do you think that would take to release on console? Maybe once you guys have some gameplay of the game, you guys can get it on kickstarter and the motocross/motocross gaming community can help out a lot with that fee of making it on console.

    1. Thanks! We don’t yet yet but we will soon and that would be great! If we were to release on console we may be able to keep some of the customization since PSN and XBLA are allowing mods for games like Fallout and Skyrim. Money is the problem, though. We’re not sure how much it would cost exactly but it would be astronomical. We may put up a Kickstarter but it wouldn’t be for console fee’s. We need a solid game before we try to release on every platform.

      1. Once you guys set up a Facebook page hit me up! To be honest, if you guys just released the game with physics that work and like one or two of each type of track and a track editor, I would be completely satisfied. I have been waiting for a motocross game that has a track editor. If you guys do end up releasing for console, an easy way to share tracks would be like how Rockstar Games has their maps on a site and we just have to click “download” and it will be on the game. Another easy way is to have a file share like how Halo has to where you can just search up the person’s gamertag, PSN, or steam name. Another easy way is to have a thing set up like how the Trials games like Trials Evolution has it to where all the tracks are uploaded to a map central in game. All just ideas that I have came up with when talking to devs. Maybe when you guys ace this game, it will have good enough profits to be able to go on all consoles. My friend that told me about this project, who also runs the PS4 side of the site and facebook page, said that he would be down to start up a championship for people online once the game comes out for PC. I am going to keep tabs on the project and will be down to get the project out there!

  5. This looks so sick guys. Once the moto community starts to catch wind of this project, it’ll get the support you guys are looking for! You’re definitely creating something that a lot of racers/riders have been waiting for.

    1. Thank you! That’s why we’re doing this, because as gamer’s and motocross riders, we’ve always wanted these features in a sick motocross game but nothing has been able to provide us with that. So we’re doing it ourselves πŸ˜€

  6. Hey I really love what yoy guys have envisioned here I thinknow it’s amazing. Is there going to be real sponsor’s or like reflex, where its made up sponsors and bikes. Also wI’ll there be updated gear and new gear with updates? Everything you guys got going on I think is perfect keep it up for sure. People will love this game as much or more than reflex I’m sure of it!!

    1. Hey, thanks! We will be pitching to real companies to hopefully get licenses but for now we don’t have any. We’re going to be using generic made up stuff for now but hopefully we wont have to upon release.

      1. Talking about sponsors, You guys can hit up MotoOption Clothing and They sponsor my league and could probably let you guys have the rights to their logos and everything. Just a heads up! Your guy’s call though.

  7. I would like to say that im looking forward to this game BIG TIME. but i game on console. I feel that a better motocross game is much wanted and much due on console. I know tons of fellow motocross riders and gamers that have been looking for a game with these exact features. Riding motocross myself, I would love a game that will implement real motocross riding techniques and these features seem to be exactly what weve wanted. Then again, I know nothing about creating games and how hard it would be to transfer these features to console. But if you take your time and put lots of effort i beleive you could make a groundbreaking game.

  8. This sounds really awesome if you all get it in the game, i have 2 suggestions.
    1. I’ve read about a home/test track it would be cool if you had to make the teack yourself and basically make it a track making tutorial or something. Where you can add stuff and change stuff later on.

    2. What also would be cool imo, would be the option to not just race but also just train on tracks, where good and bad riders are just riding around and where you can get on the track and get some laps in. Also you might be able to make rivals you later see again in races or sometging that would be cool.

    I dont know if it will be possible but i think it would be a great addition.

    1. I’m working on it. I have a working terrain model but its very taxing running every single frame. I need to find a way that’s efficient enough to do it 40 times a second for n seconds of the race and after that Nickerson and I have to somehow get it to work over multiplayer.

  9. This looks awesome guys ! Keep up the great work, it seems to have everything people want. I hope the first person view is similar to MXGP (original), the distance seemed great, where MXGP 2 is too far ahead and it takes away a bit, but I’m sure you guys already know that πŸ™‚

  10. I know that the career is top secret, but a good idea would be to add a motor to the game that makes it like, if you make a big crash, your rider will get hurt and you need to go to the gym and not race for a couple races to start riding again. And also, i think you should be able to tune your bike like in mx simulator but better πŸ˜‰

    1. That would drag the play-ability of the game down. Maybe we can add something like that in a ‘hard’ or ‘expert’ mode. Also, the bike tuning wont be as in depth since the game is not a simulator.

  11. Hi I love the project you guys are working on I cant wait for the game to be realesed but when you release the alpha, can we test it? If yes do we have to buy the game to test the alpha or will it be playable for free?

    1. So we’re releasing alpha as ‘early access’ on steam. There will not be a playable demo during alpha, so we encourage people to only purchase early access if they are excited to play the game in it’s current state and are willing to watch it grow. There will be a beta for version 1.0, though. Of course, everything I just said is subject to change too.

  12. The game sounds great! You should consider starting up a kick starter page if you don’t have one to get some extra money to get this game on consoles. Overall sounds like the game will be great and keep it up!

    1. Thanks! We will be putting up a kickstarter page soon, however, it wont be for console just the game in general if people want to donate. All of our console funding will come from steam sales if we choose to go in that direction.

  13. First off, this game sounds amazing. I am so pumped for this. I really hope that this goes as planned and the game gets big so you guys can continue to satisfy fellow motocross riders. I really want to help out if you guys start a kickstarter. Secondly, how do you find the early access or pay for it, and when is it expected to be released. Thanks for this and i hope it goes well.

    1. We plan on doing a kickstarter soon. A lot of people have been asking for one πŸ™‚
      Early access (alpha) will be on steam, however, we dont have a date just yet. We may decide to do a tier in kickstarter for closed beta builds leading up to alpha.
